"Low prices are a danger to our standard of living."

This is a bold and sweeping statement, but bear me out for a minute.

We all want to spend as little on what we need so that we can buy more of what we need. That is the basis of western consumerism. The problem with the solutions to this lowest cost formula is that we eventually price ourselves out of the very market we want to shop in.
Millions of people shop daily in discount stores, Wal-Mart being the easy target to point at, but there are others as well. Thousands of the employees of these stores cannot afford to shop in the very same stores because they work at or close to minimum wage .. they need to top up basic health/medical benefit coverage that the majority of us take for granted which moves their money from an average to a lower standard of living because, to keep the prices low for us, the wages are lower for the employees ..

So, the next time you see a low price, ask yourself which one of your neighbors lost their job to an overseas company/producer so you could buy it.

And ask yourself what would happen to your job if the only requirement for it's saleability was to do it much more cheaply that is current.

I bet the answer scares the hell out of your future.

Being the indoor cat-type creature I am, I've been watching a lot of movies lately.
Now, this posting would make more sense if I could remember any of the movie titles, but the titles aren't the subject of this posting anyways, it's the length, timewise, of the movies I'd like to discuss.

Now, back when I was much younger, movies that ran less than 2 hours were generally frowned on; because you weren't getting 120 minutes of entertainment, many people felt that the ticket price should be lower that the regular; that the cost of the movie should be prorated or something.

Now, the last few movies I have watched have been 89 minutes in length or less.

That really sucks.
I'd like more than 89 minutes for my hard earned DVD buying power money, or movie rental dough.
Wouldn't you?

Who is going to stand up for our movie length rights?
Should we just start to protest against the 89 minute or shorter movie?

Who's with me??

Holy Crap

Has it been over a year that I posted anything. I guess the effort doesn't seem all that worthwhile.

It's hard to keep up with a website and a blog.

I guess those that do, can -- those that can't fall behind in what those that can do.

Or something like that.

At any rate, I'm back baby!

Customers suck.
This is a very bad day to be in retail. I just had this customer that is looking for the "el grande cheapo" laptop computer. I showed him what we had and then he questioned my integrity about the cost of the unit.
Jerk!
Yeah, I really want you as a customer.... ass**le.

And, that was not ther first, and definitely won't be the last asshat to come in.

How about the guy this morning? My first phone call customer of the day. He was calling for his wife, a real estate agent, and wanted to know why the company she worked for told her to get a Sony PDA instead of a Palm. How the hell would I know? What a jerk. I told him to have his wife ask at work. Geesh! Like, am I in real estate? Does her office call me and tell me what they are doing, so I can interpret it to the employees spouses?
AARGH!

Cabin Fever - Lions Gate Films
Seen the movie. Loved it. You'll like it to if you liked any of the Evil Dead movies with Bruce Campbell.
